So what's the buzz on Sete Givupnau?

He's going to ride the Ducati to figure out what the hell Melandri's problem is and today I read he isn't ruling out a return to MotoGP.

Gibernau not ruling out MotoGP return
By Pablo Elizalde Friday, June 13th 2008, 09:31 GMT

Sete Gibernau says he is not ruling out a return to MotoGP once he tests for the Ducati team at Mugello next week.

The Spaniard will be back in MotoGP action for the first time since he retired at the end of 2006, carrying out a three-day programme with the Italian squad alongside test rider Vittoriano Guareschi.

"At the moment they are letting me ride once again and that's a reason to be proud," Gibernau, a nine-time race winner, told AS newspaper.
"Ducati want me to test the bike and then we'll see what happens. I will ride this year's bike and next year's too to see the feeling. I won't be testing thinking of anything, just to see where I stand."

I think they are grasping, but who knows?

He's been laying low since Rossi put the Zodiac Mind Warp on him. He said Gib wouldn't win another race and Gib never did. Maybe he feels like he got the mojo off now.

As soon as he shows up on the grid Rossi will give him the evil eye and he'll be mentally screwed again.

If Gibernau shows up on the grid I think Rossi will get a good laugh - I really don't expect him to ever do anything again. He was mentally shot whenhe left and that's hard to get past.

Curious to note that Gibernau rode only the new carbon framed GP9. My guess is that we'll be seeing it in a race soon. Interesting to note that last race, Ducati allegedly reverted to some GP7 parts for the GP8.

Sete was a pretty fast dude but seemingly one with a mental block or maybe it was the curse? If he's again healthy and in the right state of mind and if he's on the right bike, I have no doubt he could run towards the front. That's a lot of if's though.

The buzz in Kawasaki may run 3 bikes next year. Maybe there?

My guess would be if Gibernau reappears it will be on a satellite Duc, but I'm usually wrong... I hope Ducati will slide Hayden into the second works seat. I think there may be a little turnover in some GP seat with some under-performers moving around a bit (Elias, Guintoli and Nakano spring to mind (West is too obvious, lol - I'm not sure the Kawasaki bosses even remember he's still on the team)). Should be an interesting silly season!

Well a family member indicates that ain't gonna happen from their perspective. Maybe Duc wishes it would. :thumbup1:
