It was a blast. Hot, hot, hot. 112 on Saturday Maybe a tad cooler Sunday. The Norton decided it didn't want to run on full throttle. Have to "figger" that. John Noonan had "The Yellow Submarine" out. Its an un-faired, Turbo'ed, fuel burning 'Busa. He cranked of a run of 240.197!!!!! Heres a few photos.

The tech was infested with 'Busas.

:others-198:

Dang that's hot! It was 115º here on Saturday but I stayed inside with a/c all day! :)

240+ on an unfaired bike? Velcro grips, gloves, seat and britches maybe? :ack2:

So where you going to start on your full throttle problem? Think it's carb, ignition or something else? Sucks to go to all the trouble and expense of heading out for a run and having bike problems. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the pics too!

I haven't looked yet. Its something simple that part I know. The motor is sort of on the edge. Its right or its wrong. I'm guessing a slightly blocked jet. Doesn't really matter. My name is in the record book and thats what counts. As far as Noonan goes. I think they welded him to the bike! Heres the reason you go out in the dust and heat. Don't remember who this was. But its a great feeling whacking the throttle and feeding the clutch in (without having to look over your shoulder for a cop).

Wow! That fast on a Guzzi? I've never been out to El Mirage, but I would have loved to hear that MG howl..

Congrats on setting a record. Muy cajones grandes, jefe!

I have a question, does your depth perception suffer some zipping across that white surface in the glaring sun? I took a fun ride out on Bonneville last year, and I noticed I tended to tunnel out some, vision-wise (I was going a blistering 80mph cough,, cough..

Uber, The problem was in the carb. Looked like a little piece of seed husk. Have no idea as to how it got there but its gone now.

CR, I was camped beside Bill and his Guzzi. It is an immaculately prepared machine. We had a great talk on Sat. night. He is going to Bonneville to go after the Harley records. I have no doubt he will get them. I don't go very fast but I do "tunnel" a lot. At El Mirage you only have 1.3 miles and I tend to focus on the finish line cones. I find I am unaware of what is on either side of me. I'd love to find out what its like at 240 though.

If you'd stop cleaning your weed in the garage and flicking the seeds willy nilly, you wouldn't have these problems! It's a carburettor dude, not a bong! :ack2: (bongurettor? Wonder if I can make one of those?)

Glad you found it. Surprised you didn't yank it apart to have a look at the lake. Of course, when it's 112 outside and there's plenty of other stuff to do, I might not have wanted go get the toolbox out either.

Thanks for the update and thanks for breaking the ton on the board! :)

I'll have to stop taking the carb off the weed eater and buy the Norton a proper carb! I didn;t bother at the lakebed because the "tailish" wind at the start became a crosswind about a mile out. I've been going there long enough to know when a meet is going to get shut down because of the wind.

If you do make one will it be a flat slide bongurettor? Or one of the more traditional round slide models?
