What's your current favorite variety?

I have a few beers now and then. A 12 pack usually lasts a couple of weeks. Over the last few months, I seem to have developed a taste for something different from what I've considered my usual as of late.

When I think back to all the different "favorites" I've had, it's funny how your you desire for things change. I drank a lot of beer when I was younger and even ten years ago in my last relationship. Beer is good.

Anyway, I was pretty stuck on Sam Adams Boston lager but switched to Sam Adams Light finding I could enjoy a few more as they wern't so fully bodied. Probably been drinking Sam Light over a year or so up until my last two trips to the beer store.

I'm going to blame the little Mexican restaurant down the street. With Arizona having the toughest DUI laws in the country, I won't drink and drive at all except from a mile or less from home and this place is in the loop. The only premium beer they have on draught is Dos Equis Amber and I started liking it with dinner. Now I love it.

Got some take out tonight and had my first beer in well over a week and it was damn good. The light bulb came on that I really like the XX Amber so I decided to have two more. I'm hoping they make me sleepy so I can crash right after Dr. Who (10:00pm) to make getting up at 4:30 in the morning easier. If I wasn't getting up for MotoGP, I think I could drink three more :)

So, what's in your fridge?

I finish off maybe a case a year.. I like a Tsing-Dao when we're at a Chinese resturant, and if I pick up a drinky on my way home from work, it's usually a can or two of Sapporo or Kirin, maybe a Steinlager if Circle K has it.

I like Shiner Bock, too.

But if a mate's buyin.. I'll gladly take a Coors or Bud at the bar.

I tend to go for "specialty" or "microbrew" stuff first. My favorites are definitely India Pale Ales (IPAs), Octoberfest beers, Belgian white ales, and a few stouts. I homebrew a couple batches a year, so my brother and I can share when we get together.

I've been noticing the trend for making "Non-Beer" beer.. Or rather. watered-down versions of brews like Bud, Miller, etc.

Putting lime flavoring in it? wtf? Hell, why not grapefruit, or tomato? Who are they marketing this swill to?

Beer Economics 101

If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would
Now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1,000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have
$49.00 left

With Bear Sterns $1,000 16 months ago = $11.69

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank
All the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink
Heavily and recycle.

It's called the 401-KEG.
