Welcome n00b D00bs!

Realizing that you Probie Doobers with less than 5 posts can't jump in and start your own welcome threads, let's do this..

When you sign up, go ahead and post in this thread and say something like, "Hi! I'm Marco and I just signed up and my full introduction is coming soon as I graduate to Full-Fledged Doober."

Of course, you can post replies in any other thread as well that will count toward your first 5 posts.

Glad you're here. Grab a beer. Bend our ear!

Happy Doobering!

Hey gonickygo!

Thanks for checking us out and welcome to DooberVille! :D

So tell us, what the hell is that thing in your avatar? Is it a rocket? A giant ear of corn? Is it a sex toy for the Incredible 50' Woman? Perspiring minds want to know. :p

lol... yes, the largest ear of corn in the U.S.!... kinda symbolic of my world here in Iowa (that's in the middle of the U.S. for the left/right coasters here)... I guess it could be a sex toy for the 50' woman, but she must like it rough...

Welcome to DooberVille, Gary! :) Thanks for joining up!

Yeah, things are a little slow but we're just getting started and some of the promotional efforts to get the ball rolling haven't quite kicked off yet. Our hope is that the community grows to be a fun and informative place. Please feel free to post like a madman and tell your friends about this joint. :D:D

I recognize you as a SPEED insider! That gives you an auto bump up to full Doober status so that answers the age old question, "are you a Doober"? Well ya are now!

Thanks, man! Hoping to hear more from you soon!

Hi! I'm mad hatter. I've never posted to a message board but am happy to be here. I commute on a Ninja 250 and love to watch motoGP. I used to be a SciFi hound but had to choose between racing and SciFi so I could have some time left over for real time life. My husband rides a Honda Superhawk and made me start watching Formula 1. At first not as great as motoGP but now a favorite.

Keep the rubber side down!

Yea! Another Kawasaki rider! MotoGP and F1? Sounds like you're going to fit right in around here. Thanks for siging up and don't be a stranger and don't be shy to toss in your two cents! If you have any questions about how the board works, feel free to give a shout out!

:transport-040: Be cool, man! Ride safe. Get your Hubby to sign up too! :biggrinjester:

ps.
sorry for all smilies. We just got them today and I'm testing 'em out!

Thanks UberDoober. It's great to finally meet you. Wish I had time to post more. Great smilies. I'm working on getting my hubby signed up. We are helping a friend get into motorcycling so he hasn't had a lot of extra time lately.

I'm looking forward to our TV menu tonight...AMA Superbike.

Keep the shiny side up.

Hemlock from Lompoc here checking in for the first time. This site looks promising and has topics that are interesting to me so I signed up a few days ago.

Why isn't there a section for Drag Racing? I like other racing too and am just getting interested in bike racing and hope to learn as much as I can. I have a 1997 Honda Nighthawk 750 but havent ridden it in a few years because it needs some work and a new battery.

I just saw the post on how to get full user status and have clicked the contact us button to send an email. how long does it take?

It's usually a matter of minutes but we were unplugged a bit this morning! :ack2:

Welcome to the DooberVille 'Hood, Hemlock!

Thanks for checking us out, for your questions and for your email. You have been granted an instant bump to Full Doober! (so start an album!)

NHRA stuff, eh? Hmmm? There are some plans for the weekend to do a little rearranging and housekeepping so we'll see what we can do.

Getting into bike racing? Hang out around this joint because most of us Doobers love that stuff! There's a MotoGP this weekend from China and there's a thread going HERE (http://www.dooberville.com/forums/showthread.php?p=922#post922). You can vote in polls now so pick a weener!

Hope to hear more from you soon and don't forget to check out the headlines back home at DooberVille.com (http://www.dooberville.com).

Happy Doobering!

Sorry for the late reply. It's been busy around here!

:welcome-0005a: Howdy there HEMLOCK! Glad you joined us!

In response to your Drag Racing question, I've done a little reorganizing around here today to try to have a place for everybody. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

The Auto-Ville Sports Car and Auto Off-Road forums have been combined into one new forum called Auto-Sports all the Rest! This forum includes race discussions for everything beside F1, AOR & NASCAR, that have their own forum.

In the Moto-Ville section, the Clubhouse Floor & Recreation Area forum has been renamed to The DooberVille General Commons OT OK forum. I've opened it up for all fans and gearheads be they of the 2-wheel or 4-wheel persuasion or follow the alternative topics.
There's a post about it here (http://www.dooberville.com/forums/showthread.php?p=980#post980)toward the bottom.

Cornbread Red
05-21-2008, 12:13 AM
Hiya Dianne, I think I'll like it here.:D

I'm Chip, known to many disreputable types as Cornbread Red, which refers to my love of all things New Mexican Cuisine, especially chile cornbread.

I'm in my 50's too, and terminally addicted to motorcycles. I started at eight, and 43 years later, haven't been off a bike any longer than three months at a stretch. I need it like everyone else needs air.

Started racing at 10, mostly dirt track and desert, and kept doin' it until the late 80's. I'll be back shorttrackin' this Fall on a TT500. I ride on the road mostly nowadays, and I've racked up a silly amount of miles touring.

Right now I have fourteen bikes of various flavors, from three greasy Guzzi's to a Yamaha XS Street Tracker. I have worked as a bike mechanic, engine builder (Me Speakee Kawasaki), and love old forlorn, neglected UJM's. Craigslist is my friend.:seeya:

Anyway, thassit. I look forward to chattin' with y'all.
Chip

Howdy Cornbread Man! Glad you joined us! :)

Chip comes to us from the local motorcycle get together board, http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/EKron/SWRlogo.gif (http://southwestrides.com) and his reference to driving a mean go kart comes from a little non-moto event I put together over there. I was trying to pass and keep my momentum up for the straight and took a wide arcing outside line and cut for the apex. Chip came up the inside and was having none of me slam the door on him so hard and didn't back off so naturally we tried to occupy the same space at the same time. It was a pretty violent hit, but still a lot of fun. I was sore the next day!

Cornbread Red, we have another local boy here, kelstr, that grew up in the area and shares a lot of similar memories of Manzanita, riding at Legend City, the waterhole at 32nd St north of Bell and of Gary Wells riding 5th gear wheelies across the desert for miles at a time. He's got some tales for sure too but only has dial-up at his shop and it's a struggle for him to post.

Anyhow, thanks for joining and welcome to Dooberhood! :welcome-0005a:

Yo Ned! I just checked out your profile info and see you have a 2008 Speed Triple. Those are very cool bikes - I rode with a couple a few weeks ago and even posted up a few pics down in the ride section. One of them had a cool Arrow GP exhaust on it that was schweet.

See you're an AFM guy too? I was a licensed AFM expert 20 years ago and raced at Willow Springs and Riverside. Don't happen to know a guy named Walt Nitto do you? He went a long way inspiring me to set up my 600 Ninja to win races (in AMA/CCS not the AFM!)

Also see you're doing up a 650 Yammie street tracker. One of our Doobers, Cornbread Red, has one too along with another Yamaha flat track bike he's planning to race in the fall.

At any rate, cool beans, man!

I rode with the AFM from 1967 to 1981. There were a lot of tracks in So.Cal. during that period... Orange county Raceway (it used part of the dragstrip and return roads), Riverside Raceway, Ontario, Willow, Carlsbad, and even a bixarre little track out in Adelanto. Riverside was m favorite.

I started with the AMA in 1972 and my first pro race was at Laguna Seca on a Yamaha TD-3. Good times, good times....

My annual Colorado Trip buddy XTXN told me about the site so I thought I would drop in and check it out man! Looks like a cool place to hang out from time to time. Hope you do not mind I included a couple of pics of my rides:
Got caught with my pants down on this one...radar detector and all. Drat! Luckily we had some repore with this friendly officer and got off with a warning! :D

Oh and that shiny thing right around 1 o'clock in my back tire...yep it's a freaking nail on a brand spanking new Pilot Road2:

Ugh!

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc167/jimmowbray/IMG_8073D.jpg

That was 4th of July and it is still sitting in my garage with this same nail and has not lost a hint of air but I ain't riding it....got to find some spare change to get it replaced.

Anyway, I look forward to stopping by from time to time. There is no racing in me....never done it and don't follow it much but I do like motorcycling!

Another Speed Triple owner, I see? There's a couple of you here now :) Nice 'Busa too!

Welcome Jim,

Glad you found the site. Great pictures, too:cheers2:

Are you going to the Pavilions tonight, or to the Fox and Hound for tomorrow's MotoGP race?
