Today we had our first spammer almost make it through the registration process. His account was deleted before he replied to the confirmation email that gets sent out.

His name was "liveelectldt". It is from an electronics company out of the UK. It looked kind of fishy so I Googled it and found this user name had registered on about 20 forums in the last few days and actually found posts on one board where they were trying to sell their wares.

Bastards!

On average, we have about ten spambots per day try to register but they usually don't get past the image verification. This must have been a human?

If you do happen to catch spam or crap on the board before the crew does, please use the report post icon http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk279/DooberRoni/reportPost.jpgand turn the scumbags in.

Sorry for the hardcore porn today, Doobers. :mad: Some bastard registered and posted some pretty gross stuff while we were sleeping so please accept our apology, first for not catching it sooner and second if you wanted to see it and missed it.

This wasn't one of the many "bots" that try to register on the forum everyday, it was a human and there's not much we can do to prevent it. What we will do is go back to the old rule where PROBIE DOOBERS cannot start new threads until after they have 5 posts in other threads.

I'm a little pissed right now and won't say more.

WTF? We just had another spammer register on the board today. That's two after only ever having one in the past.

In doing some research, it appears a new hoard of evil bot scum has broken most human verification systems including Captcha. We may have to install some add-on mods to make the new user registration tougher than ever.

I just got word...

The boys installed a vBulletin add-in mod that displays an additional question during the registration process that is supposed to go a long way toward keeping the asshats out of our little 'Ville.

If that doesn't work and y'all see something on the board that shouldn't be, click the report post icon to let the crew know about it and you'll get some beer and donut points.
