Oh my!
* Word is out today that Ben Spies might be going to MotoGP on the Gresini Honda team? (external link (http://www.visordown.com/motorcyclenews/view/motogp_whos_going_where_in_2009__the_latest/5352.html))
* Chris Vermeulen doesn't have a signed contract next year?
* That Aspar might run a third factory Kawasaki for a spanish rider to be determined?
* That a non DMG Superbike series run by the MIC will be announced any minute. (external link (http://www.cyclenews.com/ShowStory.asp?HeadlineID=12821))

I guess i should have posted this here.
I have another little bit on news... Rumor is the final round at Laguna Seca will be canceled. I'm not super sure about this one, but I did hear from a good source. I was at that race last year and it was a ghost town.

No second series by the MIC according to Ulrich.

Another one bites the dust. No Spies to Gresini
Senior American Honda execs confirmed last Friday that there are absolutely no plans for American Honda to fund Spies' MotoGP salary if he joins the Gresini Honda team.

Looks like I'm gonna have to eat this one. Laguna Seca will happen. I have a source in Monterey that says there are Corona banners all over town.
I did hear, however, that several of the smaller east coast/midwest teams won't make the $5 a gallon drive out west for this race. All of the championships will be decided at Atlanta and smal teams can't afford/find a reason to drive home and then turn around three weeks later to drive west for what will essentially be a test session, only to drive home again.
Looks like it might be a good race to go to, particularly if you hate crowds!

Vermeulen and Capirossi have been confirmed at Suzuki next year. There's one rumor we can put to bed.
Contrary to what Adams is saying at Soup there are still a couple of GP teams with a eye on Spies (I have to say I disagree with the logic of his article as well, Capirossi might be getting ripe but if you want results next year he's a better choice than Spies). The fact that Suzuki didn't sign him isn't the end!
I'd rather see Spies on a Honda than a Suzuki.
There have been various Gibernau 'confimations', 3rd factory Ducati on a seperate team, self-sponsored and run by, as I recall, the Nieto boys.

Ducati has confirmed that Nicky Hayden will be Stoner's teammate for 2009. Like it's a big surprise or something, but this is official.

I thought I read that Spies was going to announce this weekend? Listening to motogp.com, there's more screwy stuff going on than I thought. Seems like there's some Ducati seats still up for grabs which is kind of a surprise.
