According to a press release from roadracingworld.com, Freddie Spencer will not be a part of SPEEDtv's broadcast from the Indianapolis GP. Leigh Diffey, who is a great on-air talent will be sitting in instead.

UNFORTUNATELY, we will still be stuck with Shouty Shaheen & Greg White.

Hey SPEED! Please send everybody to pronunciation school before the race

I assume no one at SPEED knows how to pronounce the names either or they'd spend whole show crying.

I don't think the SPEED-team is doing the "broadcast", not from what I've read anyway. I think those 3 are going to doing the race over the PA/low-band FM radio @ IMS. O'course I'm prolly wrong. I'm still bringing earplugs.

This from a press release:

The NBC broadcast team for the event will include veteran motorcycle racing play-by-play announcers Ralph Sheheen and Robbie Floyd, and color commentary by 1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz.

Can "Shouty" do both TV and trackside? Doubt it?

GNG, I'm jealous as hell you are going. For some reason, I'm far more interested in going to Indy than I am Laguna and think I might start saving up to go next year?

Only 4 days away... headed out Thursday morning. Should be there in time for the "pit walk-about". Not sure what to expect, probably just teams setting up shop. Doubt it will be like walking the paddock area @ AMA rounds, where you can meet, greet, & chat with the riders. Hoping to get a couple autographs a/o pics, o'course Nicky, but really want Kallio to sign my KTM racing cap. Or maybe a John Deere cap since that's one of his personal sponsors. And really hoping for good weather, as we're camping....

Well, @#$%!#%&^&*.... 40-60% chance of showers F-Su... grrrrrrrr.

The annoying thing is I now have the time to go, except that I have to be in my office Monday...otherwise I'd drive there. I saw the local hotels are in full gouge mode so I guess I won't push it. My wife wasn't too excited at the prospect either way, lol.
