After last week's race of the season at Spa and the FIA's decision to take away Lewis Hamilton's win, what could possibly happen this week in the land of the Tifosi? Formula 1 is on a roll toward the championship and with Felipe Massa only two points behind Hamilton, Monza is an historic race not to be missed.

Q1 is underway and it is an absolute flood. Amazing how they can slam the curbs and amazing that they see at all. The MotoGP guys are complaining about the spray at Indy but the crap put in the air by the cars is without comparison.

With 10 min to go, Massa is in the knockout zone. I'm sure it will change but wow!

The rain eased up and some corners are starting to show a slightly drier line. Still looks pretty messy but it might get better for the next two sessions?

In wetter and wetter conditions, the big teams are struggling.

At the top
Vettel
Rosberg
Trulli
Bourdais
10th - Massa

Knocked up
KIMI RAIKKONEN
LEWIS HAMILTON (first time not getting to Q3
Kubica
Coulthard

OMG! Hamilton screwed the pooch by initially going out on intermediates for one lap then came back in for full wets. It started raining, he spun once and never got a hot lap in.

This is the 2nd race in a row and the 2nd time ever that Seabass has made it to Q3.

If I didn't just see it, I would not have believed it. Hammy, Kimi, and Kubi midpack, STRs up front. :ack2:

Good on you, Vettel.

ÜberDoober

Starting to dry out a little bit and you can actually see what is going on. No major disasters yet and Vettel still has the lead with a bit of a gap.

What happened to Bourdais?

His car stalled on the grid.

LuHam gets around Kimi and is up to 11th.

Yikes! Looks like Hamilton touched Alonso? We're starting to see some racing in the drier conditions but supposedly more rain is on the way.

LittleAlguy

Clear racetrack for Hammy though he'll catch up to that gaggle in a few laps.

ÜberDoober
09-14-2008, 05:48 AM
I'm a little lost. :o

I know that if Hamilton's strategy works, he'll be a hero and maybe quiet some of the haters? :)

Important gap: 33.1s between Vettel and Hamilton.

LuHam will be screwed if it doesn't start raining.

LittleAlguy

Massa still on wets as well as Rosberg. (according to T&S)

Alonso is keeping up but not faster than the leaders.

Kovi, Kubi, Webbo in.

Maybe not? Jeez!

Massa getting held up. Tries a pass and blows it. Here comes Hambone. :ack2:

Raikkonen with the fastest lap as he tries to salvage a point.

Whoa! Can't believe DC's wing in the parabolica. Both Massa and Hamilton ran through it pretty good.

LittleAlguy

Vettel wins it! Wow.

Now a one point gap in the championship.

ÜberDoober

How exciting! What an upset victory!

LittleAlguy

This looks familiar: German and Italian national anthem, the point to the crowd, the pure joy, the mock orchestrating. I wonder what that sounds like. :D

Kovi doesn't look thrilled at all.

Also, the youngest podium in history.
