I'm still trying to figure out where anyone can pass on this circuit. Turn 14 seems like the only decent place.

Oh man. This was the first time I heard about Paul Newman. That's pretty upsetting.

That pit in/out it is going to get somebody. There are a lot of issues with the track but it seems better than Valencia?

ÜberDoober
09-27-2008, 08:33 AM
I'm saying there are going to be some safety car periods for sure and the chance this whole thing could turn into a disaster for several drivers. If that rain that was mentioned earlier in the week comes tomorrow, it's going to be a major cluster

Saying bye bye in Q1
Piquet
Bourdais
Barrichello
Sutil
Fisichella

While it was, unfortunately, inevitable, it's nonetheless quite sad. While my only real connection with him has been through his racing, I still want to give him a big thank you for all that you have given to the unfortunate. You will be sorely missed. :(

Onto Q2

LittleAlguy

Alonso is game over for qualifying.

1:44.2 for Vettel. Kimi bests it slightly.

ÜberDoober
09-27-2008, 08:51 AM
Hamilton better get a lap in. :ack2:

It's going to be tough tomorrow. MotoGP is live from Japan tonight on motogp.com and won't be over until about 11:30pm my time. F1 pre-race comes on at 4:30am. Ugh!

ÜberDoober
09-27-2008, 08:59 AM
Close call for Hamilton. What the hell were they thinking?

Knocked up
Trulli
Button
Webber
Coulthard
Alonso

LittleAlguy
09-27-2008, 09:07 AM
They were pretty fortunate that didn't burn them.

Haha, how cool would that be to have a gymnasium named after you?

LittleAlguy
09-27-2008, 09:10 AM
Jeepers, that was close. :ack2:

LittleAlguy
09-27-2008, 09:15 AM
Massa on pole with Hammy right alongside.

Can't wait for tomorrow. :D

ÜberDoober
09-27-2008, 09:15 AM
Massa & Hamilton on the front row! Oh Boy!

Followed by
Raikkonen
Kubica
Kovalainen
Heidfeld
Vettel
Glock

ÜberDoober
09-27-2008, 09:17 AM
Tomorrow should be very interesting. I can't wait either but fortunately have something (MotoGP) to tide me over.

I'll catch up with you in the morning, Big Ev. Have a good day. :)

LittleAlguy
09-27-2008, 09:24 AM
Thanks, have a good day.

I don't think Hamilton's microphone is working.

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 06:06 AM
Surprisingly, everyone makes it through the first lap. Massa and Hambone out front. Really looks good! :)

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 06:26 AM
Raikkonen is coming quickly.

edit: another fastest lap - 1.45.599

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 06:30 AM
Big crash by Piquet. Safety car for sure,

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 06:35 AM
This reminds me of an IndyCar yellow.

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 06:37 AM
That's it for Massa. What a mess (but how exciting) Holy Cow!

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 06:39 AM
Unbelievable. :ack2:

Fortunately, they got it off.

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 06:42 AM
Ferrari needs to ditch their light system. Still don't know why Hamilton lost so many positions?

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 06:43 AM
Now we have chaos.

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 06:53 AM
Massa for a drive thru; Rosberg, Kubi for stop/go

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:10 AM
Great defense by Trulli on Kaz.

edit: sweet pass, Kaz a few laps later

Things are looking good for the Fred. DC with another potential disaster with the fuel rig.

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:31 AM
Apology accepted, Steve. :)

Yeah, that's exactly what he means, Pete.

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:37 AM
Btw, happy 40th birthday, Mika Hakkinen. :cheers2:

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 07:40 AM
Ok, now we have a race!

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:44 AM
I would not want to stand there.

As good as this is for Hamilton in the effort for more points, the close proximity makes a mistake more likely.

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:49 AM
Hamilton had a shot but got oversteer out of the corner. That may be it for 2nd.

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 07:55 AM
Raikkonen bins it. :ack2:

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 07:56 AM
I was waiting for someone to do that this weekend and it finally happened unfortunately.

LittleAlguy
09-28-2008, 08:01 AM
Bravo, Alonso and Renault.

edit: great job by Rosberg

ÜberDoober
09-28-2008, 08:02 AM
Congrats to Alonso! Same for Rosberg, his best finish ever. Hamilton hangs on to third to boost his championship run.

Well, just after 7:00am here and soon as the podium and interviews are over, I'm sneaking back to bed. Only slept about 3.5 hours last night.

Thanks for keeping me company, LittleAlguy...a pleasure as always.

LittleAlguy

Have a good rest. :seeya:
