Well, for the umteenth year in a row, I took today off to watch the Duels from Daytona. Unlike previous years, there were a few wrecks but no "big one". Didn't Jimmy Johnson crash out the whole field last year? Or was it the year before?

Nice to see AJ Allmendinger make it. I can't determine if Scott Speed is in or out yet but I like him, mostly because he is so freaky different.

Yeah, I know it's only NASCAR but at least it is racing. After the winter off-season, I'm ready to even watch cars go in circles. Pretty desperate, eh? :)

Ya Hoo! Watched the trucks...watched the Nationwide race and now the green flag is about to fly for the Daytona 500!

Sure, it's only NASCAR, but.... :D

I really hate the prayer thing they do and Jesus stuff. Man, that's gotta turn off a lot of people that don't happen to be Christian. If we stereotype the typical NASCAR fan as a bible thumpin' redneck southerner, then maybe it still fits but they've really tried to downplay that image so I don't get the whole "invocation". Maybe if they kept it non-denominational it would be okay but the whole Jesus bit is a bit much for me.

Well, time to start the engines so I'll be vegging out for a few hours. Hope for a safe race, bigass crashes and a close finish!

I don't watch many nascar races but the Daytona 500 is an american tradition. They have some big wrecks.

Oh crap. It looks like rain may screw up the race, which has been pretty clean so far. I just hope they don't take a 2 hour break and start it again. I have things to do today!

They called it for rain. It's over!

Matt Kenseth takes it but our pal AJ Allmendinger ends up in third. Too bad we couldn't see a legit last 30 laps. That's kind of a bummer and now I have to get back to my chores. Ugh!
