Like it or not, here we go!

Whatever your feeling about the matter or how crippled it may be, American road racing kicks off this weekend at everyone's favorite track, Daytona. I won't rehash the ton of new stories coming at a frantic pace from Superbikeplanet (http://www.superbikeplanet.com/newind.htm/) and RoadracingWorld (http://www.roadracingworld.com/) or go into a tirade about the new rules and classes nor will I express my disappointment in the terrible new TV package but instead, will keep an open mind and see if it's a series worth watching or if I could see equally good racing by attending a local club event.

It appears the 200 is on Friday night sort of live with a 30 minute delay to broadcast? Actually, the Supercross on Saturday night sounds more interesting to me than a bunch of nearly bone stock 600's going round and round but from what I can tell, that won't even be shown live? We get to see the superbike class in a few weeks in some sort of "program" format hosted by none other than our favorite, Shouty Ralph. (Which is totally bogus but I said I wasn't going there)

I guess the only pull to watch is the riders we are familiar with and to see if the whole thing turns out to be a disaster. Maybe they'll DQ the 200 winner again just to add some intrigue?

Speaking of intrigue, what's up with Rog Hayden?

So, Doobers, after an off season lull and a bit of burnout spending so many hours trying to keep this joint going and keeping up with MotoGP, F1, Indycar and SBK, we're ready once again to head into the racing season with full force. If you haven't visited for a while, welcome back! We've got targeted advertising that will hit in a few weeks that will hopefully bring some new blood and life to the boards but until then guys, let's not be shy about posting and try to get this joint rolling again. Thx!

WTF?

Results for "Daytona Superbike" have been posted. What the hell kind of weird schedule are they running anyway? Jeebus!
:willy_nilly:

I'm sure everybody already knows what happened but I'll copy and paste the results here later after I get over my surprise.

Ok, I said I would and now I am.

From reading the transcripts, the superbike race was fairly close? Guess we won't get to see it on TV for a spell but by the time it is on, I'll have probably forgotten what happened or no longer even care. It does seem like a lot of bikes on the grid so no complaints there.

Here we are on Friday afternoon waiting for the 200 and just a little bit curious to see how things turn out. Not that I'm hugely excited about 600 production bike racing but am interested in checking it out to see if it sucks or is just awful? I read today on Soup that they're doing a rolling start? WTF brought that all about? Is it 'cause they do it that way in NA$CAR?

Geez! For somebody that remembers when riders had to push start their bikes when the flag dropped, rolling starts seems pretty chickenshit. I wonder what kind of pace car antics we might see this year?

And why does have speed have to delay the broadcast for half an hour?

Why do I even care?

Bostrum wins Daytona 200!

Okay guys, did you watch?

After all the whining about all the changes, I watched the race tonight and it wasn't bad. Parts of it were pretty normal looking. A pace car that should be called the Danger Car, lights going out, red flags, scoring issues...the usual stuff, you know?

Too bad for Josh Hayes. Sure was a lot of blue bikes out there save for the one brief appearance by Jamie Hacking. See that one freak wreck where the guy's bike somehow got stuck with another one? That was pretty cool, actually and I will say that the bikes all look great under the lights. The little LED pit light deal ala Grand Am was different although I think Ben left his on the last six laps?

The Yamaha's were fast but I won't be surprised to see the Buells with their rules advantage up at the front at some point in the season. If they can keep their duct tape and zip ties on tight enough, that is? Did you see that stuff? Whew!

As usual, Shouty Ralph and Greg White, America's Premier Road Racing announcers stole the show. Gems such as "you can even hear the air wrench tightening up the axle" and many more I just don't want to remember. Shaheen stated the obvious more than once during the broadcast.

As usual, the stands held few fans but I won't be surprised to see 50K at Saturday night's Supercross. Remember last year's mud bog? I am looking forward to tuning in tomorrow and hopefully Uncle Ralphie and Cousin Greg can get back together... I can hear it now...Supercross, unlike last night's Daytona 200 is run on dirt with knobbie tires... :smilielol5:

That's some funny stuff there, Über. :uplaugh:

What happened to the rest of your crew? Too disgusted to watch and comment or too embarrassed to admit they did?
