Well, the AMA boys are at it again in Fontana this week. The question is does anybody care? It's not like there's anything to look forward to this weekend like seeing it on tv.

Hodgson broke himself all up on a dirt bike. Mladin is half a second ahead of everybody else in qualifying and they're running some 600 races too, I think? :winky:

Did you read at soup the infield fans won't even get to see the races on the Jumbotrons? That's pretty ridiculous.

Actually, the whole thing is ridiculous. Woo Hoo! Saturday night I can watch the stale race from Daytona if I want but after watching the 12 hours of Sebring all day, I doubt I'll bother.

Yeah, I'll check superbikeplanet and rrworld but that's about it.

No sooner than I post this, the announcement comes out about the AMADMG has not comes to terms with Miller Motorsports Park for any racing there this season including the combined WSBK weekend like they did last year.

What's the story here? Edmondson asking more than MMP willing to give? Somebody standing up to the BS? I'm curious?

The press release is all over the net so I'll go ahead and post it here:

From Miller Motorsports Park

AMA Pro Racing Portion of FIM HANNspree Superbike World Championship Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park Cancelled

TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (March 20, 2009) ? Officials at Miller Motorsports Park announced today that the AMA Pro Racing portion of the FIM HANNspree Superbike World Championship weekend, May 29-31, has been cancelled.

Originally, the plan had been for the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei series to share the bill with the HANNspree Superbike World Championship and FIM Supersport World Championship events. Unfortunately, track officials were unable to come to an agreement with AMA Pro Racing and the decision was made to cancel the AMA Pro portion of the event.

"AMA Pro Racing has been a part of Miller Motorsports Park since the track opened in 2006," said MMP Director of Racing Mitch Wright, "and we have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship and some great racing during that time. It is most unfortunate that we were unable to reach an agreement with AMA Pro for this year's event, but it was a business decision that had to be made. We hope to be able to have the AMA Pro teams, riders and officials back at Miller Motorsports Park in the years to come."

"It is regrettable that we were not able to agree on terms with AMA Pro Racing for this year's event," said MMP CEO/President Dan Davis. "Roger Edmondson and his group have been great to work with and both sides negotiated in good faith, but we were unable to bridge the gap between what they felt they needed and what we felt was equitable. Hopefully we can work together again in the future."

"We worked closely with our friends at Miller Motorsports Park in attempting to conclude a business relationship but in the end we were unsuccessful," said AMA Pro Racing President Roger Edmondson. "Although we are disappointed about this turn of events, we hope to return to the Miller facility in the coming years and look forward to their 2009 FIM World Superbike race that marks the return of reigning AMA Pro Road Racing Champion Ben Spies to his home country."

MMP officials will have an announcement regarding a replacement event for the AMA Pro classes in the very near future.

For tickets or information regarding Miller Motorsports Park, call 435-277-RACE (7223) or visit the track's website at www.MillerMotorsportsPark.com.

AMA Pro and Miller Motorsports Park Announce Cancellation of AMA Pro Road Racing Events
AMA Pro Daytona SportBike and SuperSport Races to be Rescheduled at Another Venue
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida (March 20, 2009) - AMA Pro Racing and Miller Motorsports Park officials jointly announced today that the AMA Pro Road Racing events previously scheduled to be part of the FIM World Superbike weekend, May 29 - 31, at the Utah road course have been cancelled. That weekend's AMA Pro Daytona SportBike presented by AMSOIL and AMA Pro SuperSport presented by Shoei races will now be rescheduled for another venue in 2009.

Miller Motorsports Park has previously run an AMA Pro Road Racing weekend every year since the Salt Lake City road course debuted in 2006.

According to what was posted elsewhere, apparently DMG was asking about the same money to run the 2 AMA 600cc classes (including Supersport, the one that has a whopping SIX entries this weekend) as for 4 classes and 5 races last year.

I don't think ol' Rog wants his amateurish 'AMA Pro' bikes alongside SBK's real race bikes - and for good reason, imo. To look at Spies' trick superbike beside American Yamaha's stockers... it would be an embarrassment. The fact is, Spies forks are nearly certainly worth more than the AMA bikes.

Edmondson loves to say 'you can only see 4 seconds a lap with a stopwatch' or some similar nonsense, but that was the difference between a 250 and 500 GP bike and they did NOT look the same going around a track.

Seen the poll at superbikeplanet today? http://www.superbikeplanet.com/getVote.jsp?pn=buell0321

It's pretty funny. Funny like a heart attack.

I did somehow watch some of the AMA Pro whateveritis show on Speed last night and was pleasantly surprised to see Ralph the Mouth wasn't actually doing the race play-by-play. It was Leigh Diffey instead, who I like and had just listened to all day doing the Sebring race. Spencer was still in there too but dude, somebody needs to give him some uppers or something to raise him out of his coma. BBoz was a call in guest but had been drinking too much AMADMG Kool-aid.
