After a dramatic and exciting season opener in Melbourne, we're back just a week later with another fly-away race in the middle of the night. Will the Brawn GP cars dominate again? Can we expect the Ferrari's to finish? Will there be as much action, carnage and controversy. It's F1, of course!

Uh Oh! Hamilton getting called to the principal's office to discuss the Trulli incident again.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74137

It's also looking like they might have to deal with RAIN! Won't that be interesting with Kers, and all? There's also some talk that if it is dry, that Bridgestone's new soft compound tire has never been tried at this track and it is likely to be the issue of the weekend?

Plenty of stories to pick from on our uptown web page at DooberVille Formula 1 (http://www.dooberville.com/formula1.htm).

Hey! Nice graphic! :winky:

You would think that each driver and at least one person on each team's crew would have a solid knowledge of the rules. Lewis should have scooted on by and never looked back. And Trulli should have known not to pass Hamilton. There should have been some side-by-side driving at low speed until sorted, hand gestures no extra charge.

I know if I was an F1 driver, I'd know every stinking rule for every possible situation. :smilielol5:

I know if I was an F1 driver, I'd know every stinking rule for every possible situation. :smilielol5:

Ain't that the truth.

Hamilton was quoted by SpeedTV as saying: "I was behind Trulli under the safety car, and clearly you're not allowed to overtake under the safety car. But he went off in the second to last corner, he went wide on the grass, I guess his tyres were cold. And I was forced to go by. I slowed down as much as I could. I was told to let him back past, but I mean... I don't know if that's the regulations, and if it isn't, then I should have really had third."

The issue is that Hamilton said the team told him to let Trulli back by. The FIA stewards supposedly have new evidence that is assumed to be McLaren's radio conversations and if it is determined that Hamilton wasn't completely truthful, there may be sanctions against him.

Maybe in a few months, the results from Melbourne will be final. :ack2:

PS
Welcome to DooberVille, rixracer. Thanks for signing up and since we know who you are, we promoted you to full Doober status thereby avoiding all the Noober Doober bullshiat restrictions that we've got to keep out the spamming bastards.

Apparently, time flies! They have stripped Hamilton of all points and DQ'd him for "not being forthcoming with evidence" regarding Yarno.
Toyota get 3rd place back, and instead of getting fourth, Lewis gets no points at all.

F1 should get their act together. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Looks like Hamilton knew the right stuff, but Charlie screwed him up...

Radio transmissions:Lewis Hamilton: The Toyota went off in a line at the second corner, ..., is this OK?

Team: Understood, Lewis. We’ll confirm and get back to you.

LH: He was off the track. He went wide.

Team: Lewis, you need to allow the Toyota through. Allow the Toyota through now.

LH: OK.

LH: He’s slowed right down in front of me.

Team: OK, Lewis. Stay ahead for the time being. Stay ahead. We will get back to you. We are talking to Charlie.

LH: I let him past already.

Team: OK, Lewis. That’s fine. That’s fine. Hold position. Hold position.

LH: Tell Charlie I already overtook him. I just let him past.

Team: I understand Lewis. We are checking. Now can we go to yellow G 5, yellow Golf 5.

LH: I don’t have to let him past I should be able to take that position back, if he made a mistake.

Team: Yes, we understand Lewis. Let’s just do it by the book. We are asking Charlie now. You are in P4. If you hold this position. Just keep it together.

Team: OK Lewis, your KERS is full, your KERS is full. Just be aware. You can go back to black F2, black Foxtrott 2.

LH: Any news from Charlie whether I can take it back or not.

Team: Still waiting on a response Lewis, still waiting.

Ron Dennis would never make this mistake!

Well, isn't that the shits. I also read that there may be even further sanctions against McLaren?

"During the hearing, held approximately one hour after the end of the race, the Stewards and the Race Director questioned Lewis Hamilton and his Team Manager David Ryan specifically about whether there had been an instruction given to Hamilton to allow Trulli to overtake," the FIA said in a statement.

"Both the driver and the team manager stated that no such instruction had been given.

"The race director specifically asked Hamilton whether he had consciously allowed Trulli to overtake. Hamilton insisted that he had not done so."
The FIA added that both in radio communications and in an interview after the race, it was clear that McLaren had instructed Hamilton to let Trulli through. The "team" told Hamilton two different things. First they told him to let Trulli through (wrongo) they they told him to stay ahead but Hamilton had already let the Toyota by. Maybe LuHam thought the two conflicting orders cancelled each other out?

Team: Lewis, you need to allow the Toyota through. Allow the Toyota through now.

LH: OK.

LH: He's slowed right down in front of me.

Team: OK, Lewis. Stay ahead for the time being. Stay ahead. We will get back to you. We are talking to Charlie.

LH: I let him past already.

I don't want to say that McLaren deliberately lied during the first inquiry but there was a lot of confusion happening right then plus the fact that even Charlie Whiting was so busy he couldn't answer. At the time, I thought Trulli's penalty was bull because Hambone clearly did let him by but I didn't expect McLaren to get anything other than 4th place back and not be thrown out completely. :ack2:

Oh the drama! I think it's all Ferrari's fault. :winky:

Reminder! Practice is on SPUUDtv tonight/morning.

I wasn't going to stay up because I have to be up early for work tomorrow but since it does come on at 11:00pm Pacific time, I'm going to watch just to see what the three amigos have to say about this whole schlemozzle.

I'll watch it with you.

Cool! You bringing the beer and donuts? :D

I usually also run the live timing feature from the official F1 site at the same time.:winky:

I usually do to but I had some problems with it last week. I don't use it for qualifying because SPEED's "live" broadcast is 15-20 minutes tape delayed. I don't know about tonight, but all things F1 and Indycar usually bring out our top Doober, LittleAlguy, who hops on and posts in real time. I'd be surprised to see him tonight though since he's in New York and it will be 2:00am there.

Granted, I will be up and online at 2:00am tomorrow night for qualifying and at 1:30 on Saturday for the race but after all, it's only practice tonight. I missed a couple of practices last season myself but made every qually and race live broadcast. When you consider I do the same thing with MotoGP and their live subscription video service, I spend a lot of the summer up at 3:00 or 4:00am. Gawd, I must be nuts? :ack2:

Now that I think about it, I think I'll go take a nap. Enough of this working crap today.

I just saw the re-revised results. While I was shocked at first, I did have a feeling that Lewis would have been the one to have initially gotten a penalty instead of Jarno. That it came about THIS way and be total exclusion is unexpected.

Reading that conversation between Hammy and McLaren reminds me of most of my cell phone convos.

What kind of donuts go with beer? I'm still pissed at Hamilton's team for being so stupid! But why lie about it? If they told the truth, perhaps they would have been awarded third, and Trulli fourth. Instead, they totally screw McLaren. I blame the team, not the Hamster, but it's a team sport...

Checking in. 11:00pm in sunny Arizona that is really on Mountain time but doesn't do daylight savings so we are the same as California (Pacific).

Almost didn't make it. Got some new work stuff come in and decided to get a head start. Billed 1.75 hours! Ha! It's things I love doing (network servers) so no complaints!

So, the boys on SPEED seem genuinely stunned at recent events and seem to think the whole diffusergate saga may change the standings yet again AFTER they've run a few more races.

They also said the British press has demonized Hamilton as a liar and a cheat. That sucks but I think he'll recover. Damn, what is it with McLaren? After last year's Stepneygate, you'd think they'd keep their nose pretty clean? Oh well. Hamilton will still win races this year.

They're showing replays of all the spins and offs in P1. Ferrari with a Kers battery failure and lots of smoke in the cockpit. Scary! Wonder how long before somebody is going to get killed from Kers?

Anyhow..back to the show...

ALONSO, YOU LITTLE BIYOTCH!

I actually used to like Fred when he was at Renault but lost all respect for him when he went to McLaren. Now the headlines today are that Alonso is coming out and saying that McLaren has lied to the stewards before in Hungary when he and Hamilton had their big falling out.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/74209

Just STFU and drive Fernando. It's water under the bridge and there's no need to open your mouth about Lewis' current problems. Mind your own business, mate. Maybe his ear infection is affecting his brain?

All sports have whiners but the best ones are in the highest paid positions. If you're not doing well - blame someone else. The world, unfortunately, has worked that way for a long time.
F1 is turning into the best soap opera on TV...and then there's the AMA...

Apparently, it's a conspiracy that McLaren is struggling for pace. Now, I've sometimes wondered about the goings on in F1 but I don't see the nefarious explanation for the fact that they don't have enough rear grip.*

*Granted, I'm no F1 technical expert.

Oops there, Bob.

Wait, another penalty maybe?

Hahaha! Just did an Internet speed test - 800mbps down. I checked it 4 times yesterday after it started working and was at 20,000 to 23,000 down. Oops, my modem lights just went off again. I'd be happy with 800 down. :realMad:

Fuel loads and provisional grid order for the race:

Below is the provisional grid for Malaysia with each car's weight. Note - Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel has dropped from third to 13th after his 10-place penalty from last weekend’s Australian race, while Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello drops from fourth to eighth after his Friday gearbox change.

1. Jenson Button, Brawn GP, 660kg
2. Jarno Trulli, Toyota, 656.5
3. Timo Glock, Toyota, 656.5
4. Nico Rosberg, Williams, 656
5. Mark Webber, Red Bull, 656
6. Robert Kubica, BMW-Sauber, 663
7. Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari, 662.5
8. Rubens Barrichello, Brawn, 664.5
9. Fernando Alonso, Renault, 680.5
10. Nick Heidfeld, BMW-Sauber, 692
11. Kazuki Nakajima,Williams, 683.4
12. Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, 688
13. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 647
14. Heikki Kovalainen, McLaren, 688.9
15. Sebastien Bourdais, Toro Rosso, 670.5
16. Felipe Massa, Ferrari, 689.5
17. Nelson Piquet, Renault, 681.9
18. Giancarlo Fisichella, Force India, 680.5
19. Adrian Sutil, Force India, 655.5
20. Sebastien Buemi, Toro Rosso, 686.5

It looks like Raikkonen and Massa have some way different strategy. Vettel was lighter than everybody and Hamilton and Kovalaine, .9 different. Should be good and I'll be up at 1:30 to watch it and won't be late this time. Just hope my connection holds out so I can be online too. :willy_nilly:

Be careful what you wish for. Vettel was wishing for rain in the post-Q interview, and he got it. Then he got beached!
I wanted rain also, just not as much as was supplied. I wanted them to compete in the wet, not get shut down! If the cars are only an inch off the surface, and there's two inches of water on the track, that's not gonna work.
