Up at 5:00 for a little Friday practice action and only 5 minutes in, Buemi on the side of the track with what looks like a rear brake fire?
With the first trip to Europe and the no in-season testing ban, it looks like everybody has new bits. I know it's been a few years now but I really don't like the zig-zag they put in the last corner, New Holland. Ha! Varsha and Hobbs just said the same thing so I'm not alone. The cars used to really rip through that section.
With 45 minutes left to go, the order looks pretty much like it has been. Raikkonen is 10th, Massa 15 and and Hamilton in 9th. The new "bits" don't initially seem to have done much for anybody?

Well, not much could be learned from that session as the last 3 minutes or so were under a local yellow. Rosberg and Nakajima at the sharp end and Trulli and Glock at the other. Clearly, Toyota hasn't gone the right direction.
Oh, dammit to hell! My Internet just went off line and one of my digital cable tv boxes just threw a fit. I'm going to have to break down and have a tech come out. I still think it's their problem, not mine. I need to get showered for work but am watching Inside Grand Prix. I shouldn't because it is on like ninteen times. What the hell is with a blindfolded Rosberg drawing the track again this week? Dumb and if they're going to make that a regular feature, I can think of a better way to do it.
Qualifying tomorrow should be pretty interesting since things seem to make no sense at the moment. We'll see who gets creative overnight. Hopefully, my connection will get hooked back up and I can post this. If I was missing a live MotoGP session right now because my Internet was down, I would be pretty furious.
2 hours later - back online.

Very cool session. Button crossed the line for his last hot lap with 1 second to spare. That's cutting it as close as humanly possible and dang lucky.
I say we're going to have a great race tomorrow? :winky:

Up in time to make coffee, toast a bagel and am now sitting down at 4:30am to watch the pre-race show and eat mah breakfast. It looks like the weather is perfect, the sky is sunny and I'm raring to go. Yippie!
I did not know Jarno Trulli was named after Jarno Saarinen, the 1972 250cc World Champion, that was killed at Monza in 1973. Here's a link to a story about the tragedy. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2003-May/030520a.htm

Back to green. Alonso with a total banzai pass attempt on Webber. Ruebens leading Button and Massa. Won't be surprised if there is a stewards inquiry on Webber.

Look at Rubens fly to make that 3-stop strategy work!
Hopefully, that 1-stop strategy works well for Hamilton.

I'm glad you said that. I'm sitting here and wondering what is missing and there's just some kind of a subdued vibe going on? I am anticipating some partial rise in excitement as the strategies play out but for right now, meh.
I think they're setting Ruebens up to let Button win but it would be kind of cool to see him win. Score 1 for the old folks!

I can't fathom what Hamilton's strategy is? He started with more fuel than anyone but yet didn't really go that long? Probably a late very quick stop but why start him so heavy?
Stops have brought some action back to the track.

Yeah, although the GP2 feature race was pretty good. Then again, they make most tracks racy (hell, even Monaco isn't a total parade for them).
Barrichello winning would be great though it'll be tough now barring a safety car to bunch the field.

It seems to be a one-stop. If they do two, then it wouldn't make much sense (did they switch compounds?).

No, they said he had to come back in to switch. McLaren seems totally lost but then again, they are not alone. :ack2:

Eek. Even if they didn't, those tires are shot and he'll lose a bunch of time.

Thanks for hanging out this morning, LittleAlguy. I need to get outside and do some work before it gets hot. It was like 105º day before yesterday and will be nearly as hot today. If I get my yard work done, I might ride my neglected motorcycle for an hour or two but I'll probably be back to catch the SBK races on SPEED at 1:00 and the last few hours of Indy quals. See ya later?

THAT WAS ME! How cool was that! Doesn't it make you proud to be a Doober? :winky:
SPEEDtv hosts a live chat during Wind Tunnel and an extra half hour of the show is streamed online after the broadcast. I do it every week. He actually read two things I wrote in the chat on the air tonight but I only got credit for the one! He's read one of my comments a few weeks ago too but left off the Über from DooberVille, my chat "handle".
Thanks Rix! I feel like a star. I may, however, have used up my 2.2 seconds of fame?
Just doing my best to pimp DooberVille - every little bit helps!
