Or do they blow?

What's the deal with tire pressure guages? How many have you lost faith in? This is something like half my collection of crap.

Supposedly, the Bourdon tube type guage is the most accurate but even being very careful with them, they still crap out. I did notice that three of the ones in the pic are the same manufacturer so maybe they're just junk.

I've actually started to use the little digital guage, mostly because it fits into my front wheel where the clearances for fingers and hands is rather small due to the 16" rim and whopping rotors. Are digital guages any better?

So, without spending $50 to $90 bucks for a guage, what works? Should I go higher end digital or stay with mechanical?

..Me likey that one with the right-angle fitting (Third from left). I have a cherished "Gas Station Pencil Type" that's probably from the 60's, and made of brass, not plastic. I've learned to get along with it and decypher the thing well enough to get the right amount of air in those squishy things.

Those digital jobs like the one sold for ($20.00!) by Roadgear are junk, mainly because the part that fits over the valve fitting is plastic. After a short while they crack or deform and air hisssssssses out all around. Worthless.

For everyday riding, best bet is a guage like the one in the picture. Right angle to fit under rotors and sprockets, and a trap/release button so you can pull the thing away and still have time to see the reading.
