RoadRunner Turbo Indy 300
Registered Doobers can check the event calendar for broadcast times and info! Full PDF schedule attached.
Back to an oval where I'm not expecting former Champ Car drivers to be much of a factor. Unfortunately, one can predict the broadcasts this will will feature Danica Danica and more Danica! :ack2:

Qualy underway. Just saw on TV during the Nationwide race from Talladega, that Dario just was in a big crash. Blew a tire at 185, hit the wall and then took a huge hit to the driver side door. He's hurt. Needed help to the ambulance and was limping badly. Damn boxes. He's siting on the stretcher, looks in pain but seems to be okay.
LittleAl, we miss you today!

Why has Tomas (toe-moss) Scheckter become Thomas Scheckter? Dumb Americans.
Qualifying winding down with Scott Dixon, Danica, Scheckter, Foyt in the lead so far. Patrick well ahead of AGR teammates. Final times to follow.

SONFOABITCH! :angry-004: Why is ESPN2 dicking around when race is already underway?

Aw Crap! Just read the crawl that it is airing on ESPN Classic and ESPN 360. Does that mean I can watch on my Xbox.
Live timing says 17 laps done.

Notes and observations:
- I'm liking Viso more and more. He looked quite comfortable hanging in there with some of the non-Ganassi leaders. He did have a bit of an incident with Scheckter that cost him a likely top 10. Perhaps the fact that he hasn't gotten acclimated to the Champ Cars may have served to his advantage? Not to say he isn't good but that could have been a benefit. I do love the new paint scheme.
- Scheckter's race was pretty much a microcosm of his Indy Car career: great qualifying, fast in the race, incidents on track
- Roth and Duno: the Randy Lewis and Hiro Matsu****a of today
- Mario Moraes: a future Sperafico
- Vitor Meira: the past few years have gone eerily like the last few of Raul Boesel in CART. This year is akin to Raul's '96: a whole lot of promise yet nothing but dreadful luck/ so-so runs. To say that he was frustrated would be an understatement.
- DP: Dude?
- Dixon: Apparently, ethanol hates him.
- ESPN: To quote Bill James, "Pass!"
- Congratulations to Dan Wheldon on the victory. Hopefully, the rest of the paddock can do their homework to catch up to TCGR.

Sorry about that filter  There's only 3 filtered words and that's one!
Interesting observations. Your knowledge of the sport far surpasses mine, but I do remember the names you mentioned.
I have to confess, in spite of my excitement for this event, that I missed most of it. I was mad that the start wasn't on ESPN2 as scheduled and when I finally did tune in, I was flipping back and forth between it and AMA Superbikes. Then I fell asleep and missed both!
Getting up at 4:30am to watch Formula 1 just pooped me out.
I did see Danica's rambling interview. Jeez! She just doesn't know when to shut up. I certainly can't say that I like her beyond the fact that she is a woman driver.
The rest of the day, I spent transitioning to a new and faster quad-core computer but caught the highlights on the Speed Report and WindTunnel.
Now comes the month of May and then the 500. Let's hope they keep their face in the media and that there's real bumpin' on bump day!
Cheers!

I was up to watch (most) of the GP2 race and then the F1 race and somehow was able to stay up the rest of the day.
Yeah, that's one thing about her that grinds at me even as a fan. I'm not saying a driver has to know every little detail about other drivers but it wouldn't hurt to show just a LITTLE humility like she did during her post-victory interview.
It wasn't the worst race but at least up front, it was pretty much single file. What action there was during the race was in a pocket between 3rd and around 10th. Showing that more often would have made it a more enjoyable TV experience. Good thing for the radio call and the smattering of in-car views on Race Control.
I just hope they can make the car so that they are more difficult to just put the throttle down all the way. That, in addition to the new teams being able to catch a bit would improve the racing on the intermediate ovals. Preferably, they have fewer of them but as long as they keep them, put the drivers in greater control.
Indy should be fun. At least there will finally be time to log some miles.
Can't wait! :cheers2:
