Greetings Doobers!

After a long night and a lot of swearing, the DooberVille Discussions forums have been upgraded to the newest version of vBulletin. We are still evaluating all the changes and new features and will post up the goodies as they are sussed.

The most obvious changes are that users can now create albums and upload pictures and customize the look of their member profile. Speaking of the profiles, they look different as heck. Click on the Members List link in the nav bar and take a look at how the profiles are displayed now. It's cool! For those of you guys and gals that haven't added some juice to your profiles, now's a good time to do it!

As with anything new, there may be problems that pop up so please report them right away so we can get them fixed.

It may take a day but we'll post up all the new features included in this new release so you can play with them.

As always,
Happy Doobering!

Oh Cool!

Just to check it out, I created an album and uploaded some pictures. If you look at my member profile, you can view them and even leave comments. That's a nice addition.

Good work guys!

I had a few spare minutes to geek around with the new user profile customization options and it's pretty cool. I wasn't really going for style (it's ugly as ass) but was trying to test what everything did.

Here's what a modified user profile can look like. The possibilites are endless!

I'm still trying to figure out the best size for the background picture but when I have a few more minutes to play around with it, I'll post up what works.

People can now create their own picture allbums and upload directly to it. It's pretty simple to do and it even provides two type of links you can post: 1) a regular URL that you can use for your profile background pic and 2) a URL that already has the tag that you can copy and paste into your posts. I'm going to work on uploading more pictures to mine soon but in the meantime, click on the Member List and then on my username to view my profile. (you must be a registered Doober to view user profiles)

PIMP IT UP!

Wow! more new discoveries! :tongue_smilie:

When you create an Album and put some pictures in it, other Doobers can view them in your profile. Open up an album and you're looking at good size clickable thumbnails of your photos. When they are clicked, they display full size. It looks like Doobers can also leave comments on your pictures that you can moderate yourself. That's cool! There's also a "report picture" link so if you see something that shouldn't be posted, an admin can be notified.

You can create multiple albums too so if you go on a ride, to a race or see a UFO and want to post those pictures together separate from your others, just create a new album.

I'm digging the new stuff! See what you can do to jazz up the place a little!

Glad you seem to like it! Just about blew the whole forum up making the switch and was sweating bullets for a few minutes but got the job done. There are a LOT of new features that have been turned off until they can be evaluated and some are pretty cool

I would also like you Doobers to notice at the bottom of the threads right after the last post, there is a new feature called Tags. If you make or read a post or thread, think about what Key Words might describe the subject and add them to the Tags section.

Even if there are already existing tags entered, go ahead and put your own in there if it helps classify the topic or information. This will make searching the forums better and will also help the search engines target our content, which will help our Community of DooberHood to grow and get better.

Thanks! I'm off to geek on all the new junk. Post here if you have any questions or problems with the new wheels!

I just noticed that there is a special option when creating a new album to make it a "profile pictures" album. If you do fiddle with making a custom profile, put your special pics in a profile album and a link to them appears next to the fields that use pictures.

As we learn more, we'll post it up here..

Here's more reason to start tagging threads - they link together!

For example, if there's a thread about old bikes and it has Norton listed in the tags, clicking on the Norton tag will bring up all other threads that have also have Norton tag. Clicking a MotoGP tag in a thread will bring up all other threads that also have a MotoGP tag and so on and so on.

You can see how really helpful the tag system is! Use it, Doobers! :rocker-001:

Hey! Be nice or I'll tell Mom! Gradients? I ain't tellin' now, but I will later.

I did want to point out that the new tag system is important enough to the ol' 'Hood that it deserved it's own sticky to explain it better. You can read about Tags in this thread HERE (http://www.dooberville.com/forums/showthread.php?p=958#post958).

We did a little housekeepping today and made a couple of changes to the board to hopefully make it better for everyone.

The Auto-Ville Sports Car and Auto Off-Road forums have been combined into one new forum called Auto-Sports all the Rest! This forum includes race discussions for everything beside F1, AOR & NASCAR, that have their own forum.

In the Moto-Ville section, the Clubhouse Floor & Recreation Area forum has been renamed to The DooberVille General Commons OT OK forum. I've opened it up for all fans and gearheads be they of the 2-wheel or 4-wheel persuasion or follow the alternative topics. Off Topic posts are okay in here as long as they follow the general rules as laid out by Doober's Mom in this thread (http://www.dooberville.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25). Post up whatever you want as long as it's something other Doobers would find interesting or humorous. Please keep it safe for work, no political manifestos or religious rants and remember this is a public forum so don't incriminate yourself! :ack2:

Your suggestions of how we can improve the ol' DooberVille neighborhood are always welcome. Our biggest challenge now is getting new members and getting the members we have to post like mad fools! Tell your friends to come join us! When a new Doober signs up, there's a question about who referred them and any current Doobers that get listed in the referral box will be given 250 reputation points, which should give you another green block.

Thanks everyone!

And I did a little more! :ack2:

Way down in AlternaVille, the Paranormal Panorama forum has been deleted. We can add it back in as needed in the future. Any general weird stuff can be posted in the DooberCon forum.

Made one more tweak this morning. Made the Rides, Events & Git Together forum a sub-forum of Riding Stories, Safety Stuff & Tips forum. This will reduce clutter on the main page.

<edit>
Didn't want to make another post just for this. To get the gradients in my profile I made a small 50x35 swatch of the color I wanted and told the customize screen to "tile horizontal". Looks cool,eh? http://www.dooberville.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=4&pictureid=35

<edit> 5/7/08 Moved the new DooberVille Commons forum to the top section
