I watched a little sportscar racing today and some of it was pretty good. Caught the Grand-Am cars from Laguna Seca and the ALMS from Miller which will be hosting a round of World Superbike in a week.
There was some pretty good action in both. I love it when the P2 cars take the overall win against the big prototypes as was the case in Utah. The Rolex series in Monterey had the expected delays to pull cars out of the kitty litter but there was some good racing plus the excitement of seeing a prototype go up in flames. I'm sure that'll make all the newsreels.
In short time, Miller Motorsports Park has gained fame and indeed has become one of the premier road courses in the country. Hosting SBK next week will move it into international spotlight but, except for the snowy grand mountains and cattle grazing in the distance, it isn't very pretty.
From watching the Rolex event, I see many things in how the race is run and officiated that will be part of the DMG motorcycle racing series. Can't say I'm going to like it.
