That was excellent! Thanks, Gary! :)
I had seen this story over at SPUD but not looked at it. I respect Dennis Noyes opinions.
One of the things that really caught my attention was "Since Schwantz’s final win at Donington Park in July of 1994, only two American riders have won Grand Prix races." Holy smokes!
I did like the fact that he mentioned Hayden as a possible replacement for Melandri which is something I've been saying since the beginning of the season even though others have said it will never happen. Noyes does make it clear that he doesn't expect Nicky to keep his HRC seat next year and I'm hoping he doesn't.
The prospects for Spies seem both very good but also at the same time, not so good. In spite of Capirossi's constant press about staying with Suzuki next year, Noyes conjectures that Spies may end up in his place but then goes on to say that if Spies does end up on the Suzuki squad, that they just haven't matched the performance of the Yamaha's, Ducati's and even Hondas.
It's all very interesting as to what might happen. I am hoping that Ben does well at Laguna and Indy and he does end up somewhere decent. I was looking forward to Rog Hayden's anticipated wild card rides on the Kawasaki but he's still so busted up, I doubt he'll even be fit by Laguna which is a shame as he did so well last year.
Thanks again for the links. When I get a few minutes, I'm going to read it again. For insight and inside scoops, Noyes and sometimes Julian Ryder at Soup seem to be the ticket.
I think Hayden had long viewed the HRC seat as the holy grail of GP racing (as it was viewed during the Doohan/Rossi years) but after the last 3 years I would think that he's recognizing that the grass isn't quite so green.
The sooner he gets out of Pedrosa's garage the better.
