I knew this was coming. A friend of mine in Cali has a son that was converting his own biodiesel years ago before I had even heard the word. A few shows on TV of how the process can be done with some homegrown equipment and with info and gear available on the net, I don't doubt we will see more than this.
I had the discussion with kelster the other day of what the hell happened to diesel prices anyway? It always used to be cheaper than regular gasoline and has been so popular in Europe. His take on it is that since there's more energy in a gallon of diesel than gasoline and that diesel cars will typically get better mileage, that's it's just a "price adjustment" so the oil companies can suck the same amount out of people's pockets per mile.
It's really stupid too. Diesel vehicles and the variety of alternative sources available to make fuel from is a way to lessen our dependence on foreign oil. I'm surprised that all restaurants aren't already making money from something that they used to have to pay to have taken off their hands.

The real tragedy is the screwing the truckers are getting on fuel. The independent over the road folks are literally making half of what they used to.
Once again, I'd sure like to see a President with the cajones to make a worldwide address.. Asking the other large nations to go along with imposing a cap on the prices of oil futures. Can it be done? dunno. But just think of the kick in the ass the whole world economy would get if gas went down to half or better what it is now, and diesel, AVgas, on and on..
Say, cap the maximum countries will pay for a barrel of light sweet crude at ..50 dollars?
Back to cooking grease, I noticed that there's black oil containers behind every resturant and fast food place.. -unlocked.
